Overview

The goal was to create a CV creator that feels modern, generous and practical. Users should be able to start quickly, edit with confidence and understand how their resume will work both visually and technically.

Problem

Many CV tools either feel too limited, too expensive, or too focused on flashy templates at the cost of ATS. Job seekers need a product that helps them create a professional résumé without making the process feel complicated.

The opportunity was to build a résumé creator that combines a clean editor, live preview, ATS aware structure and export controls in one focused product.

Audience

Resumed is primarily built for serious job seekers who want an ATS friendly résumé and more control over the application process.

With ATS Live-Check, users can improve structure, readability and ATS compatibility while they work. With Job Tracker, they can also keep track of applications, companies, roles and progress in one place.

At the same time, Résuméd is designed to work for regular users who simply want a good looking resume. Flexible templates, visual customization and live preview make it easy to create a polished result without needing to think about ATS details.

Challenge

The main challenge was building a product that feels simple on the surface, while handling complex logic underneath.

A résumé editor is not just a form. It needs live preview, document structure, templates, autosave, PDF export, account handling, plan limits, offline resilience and multilingual interface support.

The challenge was to make all of that feel calm and easy for the user.

Process

The product started with the core résumé editor: sections, structured content, templates and live preview.

From there, the system grew into a full SaaS platform with authentication, cloud saving, IndexedDB safety net, PDF export, plan based access, billing logic, cover letters, job tracking and an admin area.

The product has been developed through continuous testing and iteration, especially around editor performance, preview accuracy, export behavior and the balance between free and paid features.

Key Decisions

A key decision was to keep the free experience generous. Users should be able to explore the editor, switch templates, preview the full résumé and download it without a watermark before hitting a paywall.

Another important decision was to place upgrade moments around real value: export limits, multiple résumés, cover letters, job tracking, and ATS Live Check. The architecture also separates editing, preview, cloud sync and local safety storage. This keeps the product more stable as it grows.

Technical

React TypeScript Node.js Express PostgreSQL

Résuméd is built as a React SPA with Vite on the frontend and a Node.js and Express backend.

Supabase is used for authentication, database, storage and row level security. The frontend uses IndexedDB as a local safety net so editing can continue even when the network is unreliable.

The app includes live preview rendering, PDF export, import CV, private asset handling with signed URLs, reusable UI components, i18n support and a structured API layer using a consistent response envelope.

The codebase follows a clear separation between routes, controllers, services, middleware and utilities on the backend, with feature based organization on the frontend.

Result

Résuméd is now a live SaaS product and a strong flagship case for KWEBB.

The product has shown that a résumé can be created quickly without losing control or quality. Internal usage data shows that one user went from import to finished PDF export in under 15 minutes.

We have also seen resumes reach ATS Live-Check scores of 95% or higher, showing that the product can help users create structured and ATS friendly documents.

User feedback has described Résuméd as easy to use, powerful and fast to work with. For KWEBB, the project shows the ability to design and build a complete product with authentication, data persistence, live editing, PDF export, plan logic and long term scalability.

Reflection

Résuméd is the best example of our full product capability. It combines product thinking, UI/UX design, frontend engineering, backend architecture and business logic in one complete system. The most important lesson has been that a product can be technically advanced while still needing to feel simple, fast and generous for the user.
